Skitour Scharkopf Rendl St. Anton

Scharkopf Tour Overview

To start the Scharkopf tour, you’ll first need to climb up to the Rendlscharte, the gateway to both the Malfon Tal and Mitterkar. The last part of the hike to Scharkopf is quite steep and can be slippery, so be prepared.

The initial section from the Scharkopf run might look steep and intimidating on the map, but those who’ve made it this far usually find it manageable and within their comfort zone.

Riffel 2 to Rendlscharte

For the section from Riffel 2 up to the Rendlscharte, please refer to the description of the Rendlscharte Ski Tour for Malfon Tal and Mitterkar:

Malfontal & Mitterkar Ski Tour

Mitterkar to the start of the final climb from the Scharkopf

From the start of the Mitterkar ski down the center of the bowl for about 100 vertical meters. From there, head sharply left.

Stick to the left-hand side of the bowl and, as soon as possible, ski around the corner. Continue traversing towards an obvious hill in the middle of the slope.

Avalanche Warning: Be mindful of avalanches from the left as you ascend. If you’re unsure about small slides, stay in the center of the bowl. Depending on your skill level, either bootpack or use kick turns to reach the ridgeline.

Final Descent

Once at the ridge line, ski down the northeast slope, and shortly after, traverse to the left-hand side. Follow the ridgeline, skiing just to the left, down into a large bowl towards a small hut. Traverse over the bridge and follow the valley path down to Pettneu am Arlberg.

Important Note

There is no cell phone reception in the Mitterkar until you reach the tree line.
